The outgoing WUMA Commitee members
Saturday, October 17, 2009. Following the meeting with the new MSD Director, Dr. Rosli Mohammed, the Waikato University Malaysian Association (WUMA) held its AGM to elect its new President and Committee members. The previous committee stood down due to most of them graduating by next year. After a round of good natured nominations and voting, Izhar (PhD. candidate) has been elected as President while Rashid (PhD. candidate) was elected to Vice President. Since there are currently no new undergraduate students, all of the positions were filled by postgraduate students. The full election results should be up on WUMA’s website soon. I wish to thank Hazwan and the previous WUMA leadership for all that they have done on behalf of the Malaysians here and also to congratulate the newly elected committee. I hope that the new committee will continue the excellent work and maintain good relations with the Malaysian community outside of the university.
